You interact with your agency's data and other agency's data through a web browser connected to the CrimePoint .NET Index Server Behind the scenes the CrimePoint .NET Index Server coordinates the activities of a number of physical and logic servers and services. These servers and services perform tasks such as: retrieving real-time data from agency databases, running analytical procedures on indexed data, sending and retrieving geographic information from the map server, and returning results formatted as HTML. Ultimately, it is not necessary that you know how the CrimePoint .NET Index Server works - only that it does.
The diagram above shows that the CrimePoint .NET Index Server resides between you and the rest of the CrimePointWeb System. From a web browser, you simply initiate searches for information, run analyses on retrieved data, run reports, etc., and the CrimePoint .NET Index Server does the rest for you. The CrimePoint .NET Index Server is a component of the CrimePointWeb data sharing and management system. |
